La Vie D'Ivee

This week was not super exciting as far as the work goes so I don't have too much to report, but some wonderful things did happen nontheless.

For starters, we got to participate in activity days with sister Scott! Basically it's all the young girls between the ages of 8-11. It was so much fun! We got to help them make blankets for some newborns in the hospital. Then they did a reanactment of the good samaritan and it was so funny. The girls are the cutest and it was great to just spend some time with them and help them to enlighten their understanding of gospel knowledege. Kids are seriously so much closer to the spirit, its awesome.

We found a new investigator this week and his name is Mohammed! Okay, cool story time. So we had an appointment with Hydrisse, and he was not getting back to us about it. Well, then we decided to give his phone a ring one more time and Mohammed answered. He told us Hydrisse was sleeping, so we asked if we could go over and teach him. He was like, "alright, no problem!" So we go over and Mohammed is all like, "I'm Muslim, but I think Jesus is cool". So we're like...well, we can work with that. Then we go in, and Hydrisse walks out of his room. At this point me, Sister Paine, and Sister Scott are all looking at each other because we're at a loss of what to teach. Hydrisse is way further ahead in the lessons than Mohammed. I turn to sister Paine and I tell her we have to do this thing called '6 pictures'. And let me tell you, it went awesome! 6 pictures helps us to really just point out the fact that every church will say it's true, but if you want eternal truth you have to go to Heavenly Father and do your homework (read, pray, church, meet with us). The lesson was amazing. The whole time Mohammed just kept saying, "this is truth, this is truth". He was so excited to start reading the book of mormon and made 2 appointments to meet with us this coming week. We're excited to see what happens with him!

This Sunday in church the most beautiful thing happened. There is this man in our ward named Pierre who I honestly just thought was a single man. Well, it turns out 4 years ago he left his pregnant wife, and children to come to Canada in hopes of preparing a better life for them. On Wednesday they were all reunited, and on Sunday they call came to church. Pierre was a new man! His whole family went up and presented themselves and bore testimony of the gospel. Even their little 3 year old daughter went up and shared the first article of faith. I don't think I have ever truly seen that much joy radiate from any set of people. It was so magical! I know that the gospel blesses families because I saw how strong and solid it kept Pierre's family during their 4 years apart. There is no denying the spiritual power that reinforced them!

P.S. We get transfer calls this week so pray that I get to stay in Gatineau!
